What is cellulite?

The term cellulite refers to deposits of subcutaneous fat and other (“waste”) materials trapped within connective tissue just beneath the skin. These deposits create the dimpled,“orange peel” appearance of the skin found on the thighs and buttocks of 90% of all women.

What are some of the causes of cellulite?

Cellulite is caused by hormonal changes at puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, but can even be seen in newborns! Imbalances in production of hormones and enzymes, resulting in excess fat storage, also contribute to cellulite, as does the aging process.

Lack of exercise, inadequate hydration, and consumption of saturated fats and sugars, are also factors, though diet and exercise habits alone are not the cause or the cure for cellulite.

Who is a good candidate for endermologie?

The best candidate for endermologie is someone who has adopted a healthy lifestyle. Exercise, a balanced diet and adequate hydration are required to obtain optimal results with endermologie. These lifestyle commitments are addressed further in the initial consultation.

How long does it take to see improvement?

Skin tone and texture are affected almost immediately, and often clients will notice a change in their shape and/or the way their clothes fit. Most of our clients begin to experience this improvement about midway through their program, which can be anywhere from a minimum of 16 to a maximum of 28 visits.

What does endermologie feel like?

Endermologie feels like, and indeed is, a deep massage. The patient is given a garment similar to pantyhose. This garment allows the treatment head to glide smoothly over the skin, and optimizes hygiene. The patented machine utilizes two rollers that knead and roll the skin, engaging the subcutaneous layer. After the 35-minute treatment, clients feel refreshed and invigorated. The skin has a healthy glow as circulation and elimination have been improved.

How much do treatments cost?

What happens during a consultation?

After completed a medical and lifestyle questionnaire, we will review the medical history and diet and exercise habits. We'll discuss the your type and degree of cellulite, as well as the areas of most concern to the patient. We also discuss the lifestyle commitments required from the client, in order to maximize the effectiveness of the treatments. We will also assess your fat and lean body mass percentages, as well as your hydration level. Finally, a treatment protocol of 16-28 sessions is designed, taking into account the degree and type of cellulite, skin tone and elasticity, and the your specific focus areas.

How long can I expect the results to last?

You can expect to maintain results from several months to a few years, depending upon age, lifestyle and hormonal changes. A maintenance program of 1-2 sessions per month is recommended.

How long do I have to wait to receive treatment after a cosmetic procedure?

Before receiving a treatment, consult your practitioner. For patients who have had liposuction or a tummy tuck, we can generally begin treatments two weeks following the procedure. Endermologie treatments assist in the prevention of scar tissue build up and help to reduce the swelling and bruising from surgery by stimulating circulation.

Can I receive treatments if I'm pregnant?

Although endermologie is not harmful in pregnancy, treatments are NOT recommended at this time. More effective results can be attained after pregnancy, when hormones and weight have stabilized.
